Kalye Juan. Inspired by the Filipino everyman nicknamed throughout history as Juan dela Cruz, Kalye Juan is hinged on Pinoy favorites that everyone can enjoy. "Juan" is how we Pinoys are known to the rest of the world" says owner and restaurateur Irene Juan. "We put up a restaurant where the favorites of Juan Dela Cruz are made available to everyone." Established in 2005 on Tomas Morato corner Scout Rallos, the Restaurant has seen many changes with new offerings on the menu as well as new branches in Robinsons Galleria and Robinsons Manila.
Specialties of the house include Hito with Buro, Dinamita, Dulong with Kraker, Lengua, Chicken Pastel, Bangues Kare-kare and Pinakbet. Another popular offering, says Irene, are set meals that give customers the most bang for their buck with a classic Pinoy ulam combined with a cup of piping hot rice.
Kalye Juan is also popular with the drinking crowd--their spacious Robinsons Galleria branch offers enough seats to accomodate large groups of people looking forward to a nightcap of San Miguel beer paired with Grilled Sisig sa Kalye(pork) or their fiery, chewy Dinamita which merges spicy chili with soft cheese and crisp fried wonton wrapper and a sweet dipping sauce. credits to writers: Chinggay Labrador and Christy Monastrial
